May 28, 2009 5.0 out of 5 stars putting it all out there....
By Annmarie Noll (New Jersey)
This is a deeply personal read where the author talks about all the issues that shaped her life and made her the person she is today. Lots of props for not holding back and talking so openly about love, depression, weight, mental illness, family conflict, self awareness, lasting friendships and the desire over time to conquer and persevere. A giant hug to the author for putting this into a book for the world to read! Hope you have many happy days in your future!

By Robin D. Lemieux (Venice, FL)
I rarely read and I tend not to finish a book either, however I could not put this book down! I read the entire book in one day while flying and in between meetings! I know Jan and had absolutely no idea that her life has been met with so many challenges. She is such a positive and inspirational person to so many! I highly recommend her book.

Very simply put, WOW! I am not much of a book reader but this is one I couldn't pry myself away from. I actually read the entire book in one sitting in less than a 5 hour time period! This book will take you through some very emotional times and keeps you waiting for what's next! Looking forward to the sequel!

By Raymond M. Carioscia
Well written, to the point book. Author has many issues to confront and
her cries for help and attention has you plugging for her along the way. She tells the disturbing story of the extremes of mental illness and the difficulties involved in overcoming it. It is one battle after another for her. Does she have the strength of character to get her thru it all? Stay tuned and read the story.

"The book poignantly describes Janice's struggle from despair to light, from hopelessness to hope.
As treating psychiatrist and therapist, we witnessed Janice's journey from being locked in a deep, dark, dark cell of severe depression which captured her and made her feel alive and scared.
We did see a bright spot in all of this for Janice wanted to leave that dark, cold place and breathe the air of hope and freedom.
It is a book of hope and courage for it chronicles her deep inertia and emptiness and how she had to escape the prison of emotions that held her hostage.
We provided the path but Janice had to take the steps to walk out of her cell and take on the mantle of responsibility for change and eventual peace of soul."

I have known Jan for just a few short years. I really wish I had known her during her "insanity" period. I would love to have been one of the friends she could count on.
I am amazed that anyone could go as deep into a depression as she did and still be a survivor. Her story will touch you, (everyone has had pain in their life... everyone copes differently. She fought her way through her many demons. She is much stronger than she realizes). This book will encourage you and give you hope.
I highly recommend this book... I could not put it down.
